Vrabel couldn't be any more perfect for the Patriots

The only way to continue the success the Patriots have had and what the organization calls the ‘Patriot Way’, is to bring in former Tennessee Titans Head Coach, Mike Vrabel, as the next Head Coach of the New England Patriots.

Certainly, it is the end of an era in New England with Bill Belichick parting ways with owner Robert Kraft and the Patriots organization. Given Robert Kraft’s history of success, both in business and the NFL, it is safe to assume he has a contingency plan to replace the greatest coach of all time.

The next Head Coach has to be someone that Kraft sees as both deserving and able to carry on the culture of accountability and success that has been created by Belichick. There’s no better fit for that role than the recently fired Head Coach of the Tennessee Titans, Mike Vrabel. An in-house name that has also been in the conversation to take over for Belichick is Jerod Mayo. Another Patriot legend, leading their defense, as a seven time captain and super bowl champion, during their dynasty years.

As a lifelong Patriots fan, I have trust in any decision that Kraft makes within the upcoming weeks, but I would prefer Mike Vrabel. Mayo lacks that critical experience as the leader of an entire organization. Hiring Vrabel would mean hiring a proven NFL head coach.

The entire NFL community, especially his former players, were shocked when Mike Vrabel was fired because he was such a great “leader of men”. This type of leadership and his ability to connect with his players is something the Patriots could use as they transition into a new era.

With such great success over the last 22 years, Kraft has to bring in someone who understands the “Patriot Way”. What better person than someone who was there for the creation of the “Patriot Way”. Vrabel was an important leader during the first 3 Super Bowls and someone that drove the culture in the building, earning the respect of his coaches, teammates, and fans.

Vrabel’s time in New England as a player was not just about those three super bowls, but his true understanding of what Belichick’s system truly was. His return to the Patriots would not be a new beginning, but a continuation of a tradition that defined two decades of success. Organizations that hire a new head coach usually have to go through culture shifts. Vrabel being hired would diminish that completely. His history of success as a player creates an instant connection with the fanbase, generating excitement and hope for the New England. With his deep understanding of the Patriots culture, as well as his experience in different coaching environments, positions him to be the ideal fit for a seamless transition with the team.

Coach Vrabel is the perfect cultural fit for New England, but what about the Xs and Os of the game? Is Vrabel ready to take on that challenge with a team that has not been very successful the past couple of seasons?

In the evolving landscape of the modern NFL, offensive innovation has become the recipe for sustained success. Vrabel brings youth to the organization, an organization that many feel has grown outdated under Belichick. Vrabel has also proven success in the modern NFL, bringing the Titans to the playoffs in 3 out his first 4 years in Tennessee. He even went into Foxboro and beat Tom Brady in Brady’s final game as a Patriot.

The Patriots have long been associated with defense and that should not change under the leadership of Mike Vrabel. Vrabel played defense himself and has been responsible for creating stout defenses in Tennessee as a coach.. He possesses a deep understanding of the intricacies of defensive schemes, coverage rotations, and situational football. His ability to exploit opponents' game plans and weaknesses while maximizing the strengths of his own players has been a trademark of his coaching career.

As the New England Patriots embark on a new chapter, the return of a Patriots legend could be the spark needed to reignite the success in the organization, bringing the team and its fanbase back to the pinnacle of the sport. The Patriots must hire Mike Vrabel if they wish to get back to competing for Super Bowls year in and year out.
